The School of Literature and Languages ​​is a dynamic and innovative school with an international portfolio of research and teaching in English Literature and Creative Writing, Linguistics, Translation and Interpretation Studies, Modern Languages, Film and Intercultural Communication. We seek outstanding scholars whose ambitions in both research and teaching complement those of our forward-looking school.

We are looking to appoint a Creative Writing (Prose) Lecturer to teach in our English Literature with Creative Writing program with a specialization in novel writing and preferred experience in non-fiction writing and/or screenwriting. The successful candidate will be expected to teach at the undergraduate level, primarily in areas related to their specialty, as well as contribute to our two MA programs in English Literature and Creative Writing; assume doctoral administrative and supervisory roles, as appropriate; and playing a leading role in organizing Surrey’s annual New Writers’ Festival. Surrey’s English and Creative Writing team is dynamic, inclusive and innovative, with strong teaching and research specializations in areas such as creative writing, innovative writing, critical theory, world literature, 19th century literature and culture, film studies, modernism. and postmodernism. Our creative writing team includes award-winning and innovative poets, as well as specialists in mixed media and hybrid genre writing and mainstream commercial fiction.

We are looking for candidates with a doctorate in creative writing.
